"Can you see it? Can you feel it?"
Well, hmm. Mixed bag.
I did much nothing in the early goings of the day. I was to call my friend Becca before 1pm to 'receive my present.' Quite puzzling in that she lives in St. Louis. I called, and nothing. Then, apparently, she called, and nothing. Then contact was made. She was in town. I met up and received my presents. Once more, a pleasent surprise. Then, off to Westport. Becca gave me directions, I called the Beaumont Club to check on how many tickets. 20. Got there, wondered around, then found the ticket guy. 3 left. I said that I had only credit card, and they accepted only cash. He printed me a ticket, and I ran to the ATM to pay for it. Got back in, 2 guys bought tickets, the last 1 was handed to me. Chatted with the owner guy, as I saw a picture of him and Paul Wight (a 7'3" pro-wrestler, who goes by the name Big Show [yes, a lame name]), and commented on it. He regaled me with his tales. Then I parted to adventure. Chatted some on the phone.
A feeling started ocurring to me. I started feeling a little unwelcome to the concert I was about to go to. It may be unfounded, but it crept up on me. Originally, Amy, Stacy and I were going to car pool there, in one car. But Stacy called me, and suggested that I just meet them there, I tried to make it clear that no matter what silly things they were planning to do. I would have been down. She said that I should just meet up. Not a big deal. Friends need personal time. Anywho, I thought that they would at least get there a little early, before the show. Not the case. They showed up about 15 minutes prior to the start. No biggie. Stacy and Amy were attired well, and Stacy had requested Amy be in a manhunt mode. It struck me a little off. Stacy on the prowl. Her eyes darting everywhere, a theme of the night. I think Stacy was out of her element, or not glad that I was there, or something bad had happened that I am not privy to. Regardless, over the course of the night I heard around a dozen words out of her. Her and Amy know sign language, and no matter how loud the show got, they could communicate. I am capable of volumes great enough to be heard, but not Stacy. No talking out of Stacy, and not much smiling, or laughing. Almost no eye contact either. I had more eye contact with about 8 strangers, some guy that was talking about music much, and Amy. Amy was cool. (She is pretty much engaged, so no one get any ideas). Amy talked to me fairly frequently, put up with my dancing, and would even tell me what conversations Stacy and her were having that I couldn't understand as a result of not knowing sign language. Thanks Amy, I felt very welcomed by you. I will not try to draw generalizations, I will just say that Stacy is much fun in one on one, and small group interactions. I will say Amy is quite good at crowd situations, and small group. I have insufficient evidence to know how good Stacy is in crowd situations (one time is not really enough to pin it down), nor do I know how good Amy is at one on one.
So, I should mention that the show was some guy, then Travis McGraw, then Maroon 5. None of which did I enter, or leave a fan of, I am not certain that could have helped anything.
I am still glad that I went. It wasn't that I didn't enjoy myself, I just had high expectations that weren't met. But I met some interesting people, and had some productive thoughts.
Somebody thought I was their co-worker from Target. I didn't lie, I told her I had never worked there. But, she was awful cute.
I think anyone who watched our group from afar, may have entertained the following thoughts:
That Stacy and Amy were lesbian lovers, and I was their cool friend.
That Amy and I were good friends, and Stacy was a friend of Amy's and not me.
That Amy and Stacy were good friends, and I was sort of a friend of Amy and not Stacy.
That there were three really hot people hanging around eachother.
That Stacy and Amy were lesbian lovers, and I was their tragically uncool friend.
Then I hung with Alex for a little while, I was a little too hungry, and pre-occupied.
Maroon 5, I must say, talented lead singer, but they didn't command the audience. Many folks left following the their radio single, even though 2 songs and an encore (which I left before) followed it. Not too dedicated a fan base. The fellow that Amy was trying to hook Stacy up with put it well, they appear to likely be a one hit wonder in the making. It isn't even that much of a hit. Good luck to them on that. I think Travis McGraw might be more talented. Now food, and watching the recorded Smackdown.
